With over 30 years of fine leatherwork, it can only be “Hats Off” to Fino Leatherware, which unveiled a celebratory showcase of its 10th-year Artisan Collection recently at their store in Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, Makati. Fino continues its commitment in championing local artisans and creating pieces with soul, story and enduring style through this noteworthy tribute.
“Hats Off” is a brilliant installation of fashion, heritage and handcrafted artistry spotlighting the brands decade celebration of local craftsmanship. The Artisan Collection featured Fino’s signature hand-woven leatherwork, intricate wrapping and chaining techniques — a revival of traditional methods seamlessly translated into modern silhouettes and testament of time-honored artistry of Filipino leatherwork.
A special feature of the presentation was the collab with designer and visual storyteller Jo Ann Bitagcol, whose garments — inspired by the barong, camisa and Maria Clara — feature digitally printed photographs that honor memory and tradition. Her pieces styled with the bags created impressions of heritage reimagined. In a special release exclusive to the event, Fino also unveiled a series of collectible artisan hats from Lucban, crafted using native buntal fiber, locally sourced straw and highlighted with pieces of leather.
The successful event elevates local leather bags into a whole new level of appreciation. Design Center of the Philippines executive director Rhea Matute ends, “Design rooted in authenticity doesn’t just preserve culture — it moves it forward.”
