Former broadcast journalist Jay Ruiz will continue to serve as the acting chief of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Malacañang said Friday.
In a press conference, Palace Press Officer and PCO Undersecretary Claire Castro dismissed rumors of a potential reshuffle within the agency.
“Secretary Jay remains the acting secretary of the PCO. So, kung may mga ugung-ugong, wala pong nakakarating sa amin,” Castro said when asked about reports of a forthcoming new appointment to lead the PCO.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reappointed Ruiz as acting secretary of the PCO after the Commission on Appointments bypassed his ad interim appointment when Congress adjourned sine die on 13 June.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced that Ruiz’s reappointment papers were issued on 16 June.
To recall, the CA had scheduled deliberation on Ruiz’s appointment for 3 June but deferred it due to time constraints.
Despite this, Marcos instructed Ruiz to continue leading the PCO.
Ruiz has since expressed his gratitude to the President for the "continued trust and confidence" in his leadership of the PCO.
