From raising our flag as 2005 Miss International to a devoted mother and now academic achiever, Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz continues to inspire with her courage to grow and begin anew.
Nearly two decades after bringing honor to the country as Miss International 2005, Lara has achieved another milestone. This time, it is far from the pageant stage and the spotlight of Philippine showbiz. She recently completed her Diploma in Early Childhood Education with distinction from Langara College in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
It is a quiet but powerful triumph for Lara, who has embraced a life of purpose and humility abroad. Together with her husband, actor Marco Alcaraz, and their three sons, Noah, Tobias, and Moses, the former beauty queen left the comfort and familiarity of the Philippines in 2023 to pursue a new life in Canada, driven by faith, family, and the desire for deeper connection.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Lara reflected on the life-altering journey they have undertaken. “Our family has always prayed that God would lead us to a place where we could be closer to one another and to Him, wherever that may be, no matter how difficult the path,” she wrote.
That path, paved with uncertainty and sacrifice, eventually led her to the halls of Langara College. It was a space where she studied, adjusted, and thrived. Completing the diploma program with distinction is not just a personal achievement but a testimony to her perseverance and calling.
“Today is the beautiful result of every sacrifice and challenge we’ve faced and overcome by His grace,” she continued. “Leaving behind our careers and life in the Philippines was not easy, but it was a dream God had placed in our hearts for a long time.”
Despite the risks and fears, Lara and Marco chose to follow that quiet calling. They wanted to plant roots where their family could flourish together in faith and purpose. Along the way, she found not only academic fulfillment but renewed strength as a mother, wife, and woman guided by grace.
“God has not only answered that prayer, He has done far more than we could have imagined,” she shared. “He continues to work in us and through us. All this is because of Him. To Him alone belongs all glory, honor, and praise. Thank You, Jesus!”
As Lara moves forward in her new role in early childhood education, she carries with her the same humility, grace, and faith that once captured the world’s admiration on an international stage.
Her story today is no longer about crowns or cameras. It is about commitment, courage, and a heart fully surrendered to God’s plan. In a world that often measures success by fame and glamour, Lara Quigaman reminds us that the most meaningful victories are those anchored in love, faith, and purpose.
