Senator Loren Legarda, the country’s foremost champion of environmental legislation, once again brings attention to the Philippines’ rich natural heritage with the launch of Season 4 of the documentary series “Our Fragile Earth: Protected Areas of the Philippines.”
Produced in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Biodiversity Management Bureau and Legarda’s office, the series explores the ecological, cultural, and policy significance of the country’s 248 protected areas (PAs) — legal sanctuaries established under the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018, a landmark law principally authored by the senator.
“Over the years, we’ve shone a spotlight on the wonders, beauty and challenges of our protected areas,” Legarda said.
“This season of Fragile Earth feels even more special — to witness the breathtaking sunrise atop Mt. Pulag in the Cordilleras; to follow the remarkable migratory journey of waterbirds at Olango Island; to explore the ancient caves and rock formations of Naga-Kabasalan — these majestic landscapes and their extraordinary creatures remind us how fortunate we are to call this country our home.”
