The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the owner and driver of a Toyota Hilux involved in a viral road rage video that showed a reckless encounter with a passenger bus on a public highway.

LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, said the behavior displayed by the driver in the video reflects “a lack of discipline and grave abuse,” endangering other motorists and pedestrians.

The pick-up, bearing plate number EAE 6704, was caught on video dangerously swerving and intentionally blocking a Public Utility Bus (PUB) from overtaking, both from the left and the right.

The LTO is investigating whether the vehicle's registered owner, a resident of Bato, Camarines Sur, was behind the wheel during the incident. The individual has been ordered to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division at East Avenue, Quezon City on 20 June, and to submit a written explanation why they should not be administratively charged with reckless driving under Section 48 of Republic Act 4136.

The agency is also considering suspending or revoking the driver’s license on grounds of being an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.”

To prevent the vehicle from being sold or transferred during the investigation, the Toyota Hilux has been placed under alarm by the LTO.
