The number of monkeypox cases in Aurora province has risen to 17.
According to the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) of Aurora, the cases were recorded from January 1 to June 14, 2025.
The PESU reported that one additional confirmed case has recovered, while another suspected case was also recorded.
"A total of 17 monkeypox cases have been reported since January 1, 2025. Of these, 15 are suspected cases, nine of which are currently active, and two are confirmed cases," the PESU stated.
Currently, six suspected cases are awaiting laboratory test results, while six others tested negative for the confirmatory test.
"No deaths have been reported this year," the PESU added.
Authorities reminded the public that mpox is a communicable disease but can be prevented through proper hygiene and safety measures.
