There is a new Filipino gymnast who is starting to make heads turn.
Her name is Elisabeth Antone and she picked up two bronze medals in the 18th Junior Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships over the weekend in Jecheon, South Korea.
Antone finished in third place in the individual all-around after tallying a score of 48.565 points.
Minami Tobi of Japan took the gold medal with a total of 51.166 while her teammate Ayu Sarada clinched the silver with a score of 50.466.
Antone then pocketed her second bronze, this time in the vault.
Antone joins double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and Eldrew Yulo as the only Filipino gymnasts to get a podium finish in this competition.
Carlos finished with a gold in the men’s individual all-around and three bronze medals in the individual all-around, vault and parallel bars.
It was 25-year-old Yulo’s first competition since his landmark performance in the Paris Olympics last year.
Meanwhile, Eldrew Yulo picked up a silver in the boys vault, his third straight from the Asian championships.
