The local government of Makati announced that it has distributed laptops to teachers and teaching staff at the Nemesio I. Yabut Elementary School, part of a broader initiative to equip the city’s educators and students for the upcoming school year.
According to outgoing Mayor Abby Binay, a total of 1,410 laptops will be provided to teachers and teaching-related personnel in Makati’s public schools, as she stressed that supporting teachers is a vital part of Makati’s education strategy.
“Our teachers deserve the tools to help them adapt to modern teaching methods and technology,” Binay said. “These laptops will allow them to plan lessons better, access online resources, and manage their workloads more efficiently.”
In addition to the laptops, Binay also distributed school supplies, emergency kits and other necessities to public school students.
She added that her administration has upgraded and expanded benefits for elementary, junior high and senior high school students to ease financial burdens on parents and ensure students are prepared for school.
“They no longer have a reason not to send their children to school,” said Binay, noting the provision of free meals, uniforms and shoes. “There is no reason for parents to say their child dropped out or did not study.”
“This program reflects our vision for inclusive and quality education. We want every child in Makati to come to school ready to learn and confident that they have the tools they need to succeed,” she added.
The local government is also strengthening school disaster preparedness by providing 13,698 Emergency Go Bags, 12,179 adult hard hats and 5,650 small hard hats for students. Each Go Bag contains basic emergency supplies such as water, a food bar, an emergency blanket, a hand-crank flashlight and medical supplies.
“We are not just preparing our students academically, but also making sure they are ready and safe when disaster strikes,” Binay said. “Safety is an essential part of every school environment.”
The distribution of school supplies, protective gear and laptops is ongoing across various public schools in Makati, aiming to ensure all beneficiaries receive their provisions before the school year begins.
