DoTr eyes immigration officers’ OT fund transfer

The Department of Transportation (DoTr) announced on Wednesday that it plans to use its funds to support overtime pay for immigration officers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, aiming to enhance passenger services.

Under an agreement signed Wednesday with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the DoTr authorized the use of the Immigration Service Charge (ISC) to cover overtime duties for BI personnel whose pay is not included in the 2025 national budget.

MIAA general manager Eric Jose Castro Ines stated that MIAA would handle ISC disbursements in line with Civil Service Commission rules, which will allow for overtime pay or honoraria for qualified BI personnel based on prescribed rates and regulations. Ines did not disclose the exact amount needed.

“Included in the agreement is a ballpark estimate, which we will review and clarify,” Ines said. “As of now, the Government-Owned and Controlled Corporation will still assess it.”
