AboitizPower continues Balili River clean-up efforts

TDT

Team members of Hedcor, the run-of-river hydropower arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation, recently collected 61 kilograms of plastic bottles and other waste in a clean-up drive along the Balili River in La Trinidad, Benguet. The Balili River plays a key role in supporting the operations of Hedcor’s 20.4-megawatt La Trinidad hydro plant, making its steady and clean water flow essential for generating renewable energy.

Hedcor has been actively conducting clean-up drives in the Balili River since 2011, with this latest effort contributing to a total of 5,257 kilograms of waste collected over the years.

This initiative is part of AboitizPower's wider environmental commitment across its project sites in Baguio, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, and Mountain Province. Working closely with local government units, national agencies, NGOs, schools, and community groups, Hedcor has removed around 9,322 kilograms of trash from rivers and creeks in these areas since 2011.

Hedcor, a wholly owned subsidiary of AboitizPower through Aboitiz Renewables Inc., operates 22 run-of-river hydropower facilities nationwide, helping power communities while actively protecting the rivers that fuel their operations.
