Blackwater finally snapped its six-game losing streak with a masterful 97-82 win over Terrafirma in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Christian David was named the Best Player of the Game with a double-double game of 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Bossing picked up just their second win in 10 games.
Blackwater head coach Jeff Cariaso could not help but rave about the second overall pick of the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft as he begins adapting to the style of play in the country.
“He stepped up in this conference and he is one of our leaders not just in the scoring department. He’s getting a good feel of how to play here in the PBA so he’s getting a little more comfortable,” Cariaso said.
After ending the first quarter with a slim 23-21 lead, David’s triple with 6:39 in the second quarter capped an 18-6 run Blackwater needed to break the game wide open.
Richard Escoto led the Bossing with 21 points behind a 5-of-7 shooting clip while Sedrick Barefield and RK Ilagan both had 12 points each.
Louie Sangalang scored 24 points for the Dyip as they finished their campaign with a 1-10 slate.
