Wedding vow

Johan Helberg was sleeping when an unexpected visitor arrived at his lakeside home in Trondheim Fjord, Norway on 22 May.

Helberg’s neighbor called to wake him up at 5 a.m. to see the intruder making a grand entrance to his property.

“I went to the window and was quite astonished to see a big ship,” Helberg told Norwegian broadcaster TV2, NBC News reports.

A giant cargo ship had run aground in Helberg’s garden, nearly smashing his home located on the banks of the sea.

World Cargo News reported that the 30-year-old Ukrainian officer on watch duty fell asleep causing the NCL Salten, which was headed to the port in Orkanger, to veer off course and run aground.

The ship was refloated on 27 May and towed to Orkanger.

Meanwhile, a Brazilian bride had as grand an entrance as the Norwegian ship with her bizarre arrival at her wedding last month, New York Post (NYP) reports.

“Everyone at the wedding was shocked, but during our vows we explained everything — we read out our story,” Daniela Signor, 33, told Jam Press, according to NYP. “Then people understood why I arrived in a hearse.”

Signor rode to the church in a hearse not to reinforce the “til death do us part” wedding vow with Apollo Scariot, 31. The morbid motif was inspired by Scariot’s occupation as an undertaker and their meeting at the funeral home where he worked back in April 2023.
