Man gunned down in Abra

BAGUIO CITY — A man was declared dead-on-arrival at the hospital moments after he was shot by unidentified gunmen in front of his house Tuesday morning.

The victim was identified as Jendricks Seares Luna, 54, married, a resident of Dangdangla, Bangued, Abra. He was the former mayor of Lagayan, he also ran for a position in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) of the province of Abra.

Based on the police report, the incident took place just two and a half kilometer from the Bangued Municipal Police Station at around 8:22 a.m.of 3 June 2025. The said shooting incident was reported to the Bangued MPS at about 8:30 a.m. of the said date.

Police stated that Luna was sitting at a kiosk in front of his residence when four people on board two motorcycles arrived. The gunmen shot the victim multiple times and fled to an unknown direction.

Luna sustained multiple gunshot wounds on different parts of his body. He was rushed by his relatives to the Seares Memorial Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival.

Police units were alerted and conduct of drag net operation for the possible arrest of the suspects. Investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the killing as well as the perpetrators.
