Direk says not guilty: Darryl Yap enters plea in cyberlibel case

Controversial director Darryl Yap, in an arraignment held at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 203, has entered a not guilty plea on Tuesday, 3 June, in connection with the cyberlibel case filed by comedian-host Vic Sotto.

This was confirmed by Yap's legal counsel Atty. Raymond Furtun, who also said that the next hearing is scheduled on 19 August.

Yap's cyberlibel case stemmed from the teaser of the director's forthcoming film, The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma, uploaded on the director's Facebook account last 1 January. In the controversial teaser, Gina Alajar (who is playing Charito Solis) asked the character of Rhed Bustamante, who portrays Pepsi Paloma, if she was raped by actor-host Vic Sotto.

The movie was initially slated for showing last 5 February, but it was cancelled because the film was not reviewed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board following Sotto's filing of the cyberlibel case against Yap.
