Alex Eala and Rebeka Masarova of Switzerland were booted out in the women's doubles of the Birmingham Open in the United Kingdom Monday evening (Manila time) after a 4-6, 4-6 loss against the Australian pair of Ellen Perez and Storm Hunter in the Round of 16.

The Filipino-Swiss tandem fought hard for one hour and 11 minutes but was outclassed by the Aussie pair.

It was Eala's first match in the grass court for this year.

Eala will be shifting her focus on the women's singles as she faces Linda Fruhvirtova of the Czech Republic in the Round of 32 on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old Rafael Nadal Academy graduate, currently at No. 73 in the Women's Tennis Association rankings, is setting her sights in getting into the main draw for the Wimbledon Championships on 30 June.
