DHSUD explores rental housing support for 4PH

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is considering offering rental housing support to qualified beneficiaries under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s flagship Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling said Sunday that the department is open to all feasible modalities to make the 4PH program more inclusive and sustainable.

"We must exhaust all feasible modalities under 4PH. The more schemes available for our kababayans, depending on the need and their capacity, the better," Secretary Aliling stressed.

"Currently, we are studying rental housing among the modalities under 4PH," he added.

Families in the lower income brackets are among the targeted beneficiaries of the rental housing option, according to the DHSUD.

Aliling, who assumed office last Monday, earlier announced the recalibration of 4PH to include horizontal or subdivision-type housing projects, in addition to the program’s original focus on vertical or condominium-style developments.

Raemulan Lands Inc., one of the country’s top socialized housing developers, has already committed to build 35,656 housing units over the next two years under the recalibrated program.

The DHSUD Central Office is currently drafting guidelines for the inclusion of horizontal developments in the 4PH framework.
