Perpetual, Arellano begin girls volleyball title series

The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta guns for first blood as Game 1 of Season 100 National Collegiate Athletic Association juniors volleyball finals starts on Friday at the Playtime Filoil Centre in San Juan.

The Junior Lady Altas will defend their crown against Arellano University at 8 a.m. in a rematch of last year’s best-of-three championship series.

Perpetual swept Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-18, 25-22, 25-20, in their do-or-die semifinal match last Monday at the Arellano University Gym in Legarda, Manila.

The Junior Lady Altas will be leabing on the likes of Jaja San Juan, Sherrie Rose Acosta, Maya Javier, Isabel Baser and Ashlee Buenaventura, and sisters Jasmine Monte and Janie Espiritu.

Meanwhile at 5 p.m., Perpetual faces Letran College for Game 1 of the boys volleyball finals.

The Junior Altas are seeking for their 13th crown while the Squires are looking to end a 20-year title drought.

Perpetual will be banking on Charles Concina, Nathan Ciriaco, Kirby Alecida, Gabirel Macatuno, Zyro Ornos, Resty Santos, Miguel dela Cruz and John Lat after beating Arellano in the semifinals.
