President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has dismissed calls for his resignation stressing that it is not his character.
“I will resign? Why would I do that?” he told Palace reporters in a press conference at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Marcos made this response after his critics called for him to leave office and not his Cabinet.
His former Executive Secretary, Atty. Vic Rodriguez stated that even if the Cabinet is reshuffled, internal problems in the government would persist as the problem lies with Marcos and not his team.
Meanwhile, Marcos noted that he does not run away from problems as it does not achieve anything.
“It's not in my nature to run away from problems. So, what good will that do?” he said.
Earlier, Marcos directed his Cabinet secretaries to submit courtesy resignations in a bid to revamp his government. He has retained his economic team and current Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
