The Commission on Appointments (CA) has released its schedule for next week’s confirmation hearings, with Transportation Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon III slated to appear first.
The CA, composed of members from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, will convene on 3 June, a day after Congress resumes its session.
Dizon assumed office in February following the resignation of Secretary Jaime Bautista due to health reasons.
Dizon was among the Cabinet members who submitted courtesy resignations in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. but he has since been reappointed.
Also set for confirmation is Presidential Communications Secretary Jay Ruiz, a former broadcast journalist who has held the post since February. Like other Cabinet members, Ruiz submitted a courtesy resignation but was retained by the President.
Joining them is former Union Digital Bank president and CEO Henry Rhoel Aguda, who was appointed secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology. Aguda replaced Ivan John Uy who resigned in March.
On 4 June, the CA Committee on Constitutional Commissions and Offices will hold hearings on the appointments of Noli Pipo and Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal as Commission on Elections commissioners; Luis Meinrado Pañgulayan to the Civil Service Commission; and Douglas Michael Mallillin to the Commission on Audit.
