Police arrested a woman at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 last Monday upon her arrival from Brunei Darussalam, according to the Philippine National Police-Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP).
The PNP-AVSEGROUP reported that the arrest was a coordinated effort between NAIA Police Station 1 and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Reports also said that the woman was apprehended based on multiple warrants issued by Regional Trial Courts in Isabela.
She faces seven counts of estafa, each with a fixed bond of P20,000, and six counts of violating Batas Pambansa Blg. 22, or the Bouncing Checks Law, each with a fixed bail of P16,000.
The arresting officers used an Alternative Recording Device (ARD) to document the operation and ensured the suspect was informed of her constitutional rights. The suspect was immediately turned over to the CIDG for further handling.
“This operation demonstrates AVSEGROUP’s unwavering commitment to its mission of protecting the country’s airports and preserving the values of justice through vigilant and coordinated law enforcement,” said PNP-AVSEGROUP director Brig. Gen. Christopher M. Abecia.
