Gilas Youth stay unbeaten in SEABA Qualifiers

Gilas Pilipinas Youth repulsed Indonesia, 77-68, to clinch its fourth straight victory in the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga Wednesday evening.

Prince Cariño scored 15 points as Gilas Youth survived the Indonesian's challenge in the fourth quarter to stay unbeaten.

The Philippines is in the driver's seat, 63-49, with 6:48 left in the fourth quarter when a triple from Seiya Yabe sparked an 12-2 run for the Indonesians that cut the lead down to four points.

Crucial baskets from Everaigne Cruz, CP Miranda, and Cariño gave Gilas Youth some breathing room, 72-61, with 2:35 left and led for the rest of the game.

Benjamin Hernusi led Indonesia with 23 points, three steals, one rebound, and one block as they dropped to second place with a 3-1 win-loss record.

The Philippines will look to solidify its place in the final as it goes up against Malaysia in the final day of the elimination round on Friday at 7 p.m.
