TecPlata S.A., International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) business unit in Buenos Aires and operator of the Port of La Plata’s container terminal, received its first bi-train truck on 20 May 2025, operated by Yusen Logistics.
This marks a logistics milestone in Argentina, as the bi-train, a truck configuration consisting of two semi-trailers connected by a central axle, brings major advantages to cargo transport. It can carry up to 70 percent more cargo than a standard truck, reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
Authorized under strict transport regulations, bi-trains offer greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability for long-haul cargo. Their integration into TecPlata’s operations underscores the terminal’s commitment to innovation and improving Argentina’s competitiveness in global trade.
“The arrival of bi-train trucks at TecPlata is an important step toward more efficient and sustainable logistics,” said Juan Pablo Trujillo, TecPlata CEO. “We celebrate this first operation with Yusen Logistics, who trusted us as a key link in strengthening their service network.”
TecPlata is fully equipped to handle bi-trains with its direct highway access and infrastructure designed to accommodate specialized vehicles without disrupting operational flow.
This initiative is part of TecPlata’s broader effort to establish a smart logistics hub in southern Greater Buenos Aires, connecting local industries to international markets with high standards of innovation and environmental responsibility.
