A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck Ilocos Region late Saturday morning, prompting the immediate evacuation of athletes and school personnel participating in ongoing events. La Union shakes at magnitude 5.4

BAGUIO CITY — A 5.4 magnitude shake was felt in the Province of La Union and some parts of Region 1 at 10:36 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the depth of the quake is 010 km and the center was at 16.88°N, 120.08°E - 031 km N 84° W of Luna, La Union.

 Intensity IV was felt at City of Candon and City of Vigan, both of Ilocos Sur; Intensity III at Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Intensity II in Bangued, Abra; Tagudin, Ilocos Sur; San Fernando and Aringay, La.Union; Bani, Infanta, and Bolinao, Pangasinan and Intensity I in the City of Baguio.

No aftershocks are to be expected. Meanwhile, the City Government of Baguio is urging the public to stay calm yet alert all the time
