An officer-in-charge will temporarily head the Department of Energy following the reassignment of Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin announced Friday.
In a press briefing, Bersamin said former Congresswoman and current DOE Undersecretary Sharon Garin will serve as acting secretary.
"DOE will, in the meanwhile, be in the hands of an acting secretary — One of the undersecretaries, the former Congresswoman Sharon Garin," he told reporters.
Bersamin noted that Lotilla himself recommended that any of his current undersecretaries could step in as OIC during the transition.
He also reiterated that all Cabinet officials will continue to be evaluated based on the performance goals they have committed to their respective departments.
