Pre says goodbye to FEU

Veejay Pre announced his departure from Far Eastern University (FEU) last Tuesday in a lengthy social media post.

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 Rookie of the Year said he followed his family' decision after a year with the Morayta-based squad.

"My family and I have come to a decision, and I’ve chosen to heed their wisdom and concerns. This made me realize how much they only want the best for me and I can’t deny that taking this big step forward has been the hardest decision ever," Pre said.

"Now, allow me to express my deepest respect and gratitude to FEU. Thank you for the life-changing, wonderful experiences and opportunities you’ve given me and my family."

Pre averaged 13.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in his rookie season and became a bright spot for FEU despite missing the Final Four after tallying a 5-9 win-loss record.

The 19-year-old forward even dropped a career-high 31 points despite the Tamaraws absorbing a 70-79 loss against the University of Santo Tomas last October.

While Pre will be wearing a different jersey in the future, he remains grateful for his time in FEU.

"I owe FEU so much and I will always treasure the good deeds, memories, lessons, heartbreaks, and laughter we’ve shared. I will be forever grateful as a 'Tamaraw' and to have experienced the colorful life that FEU and its community bring," Pre said.

"Once a 'Tamaraw' will always be a 'Tamaraw.'"
