R&B group Boyz II Men performed its biggest hits in a sold-out show at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on 18 May.
The vocal trio, composed of Shawn Stockman, Nathan Morris and Wanya Morris, brought everyone to their knees with soulful performances of “On Bended Knee,” “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love To You,” “Water Runs Dry,” “4 Seasons of Loneliness” and “Motownphilly.”
The members were in awe as the crowd took Mariah Carey’s part in “One Sweet Day.”
The boys sang “Come Together,” “Purple Rain” and “Locked Out of Heaven” while paying tribute to Prince, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, much to the delight of fans.
“You guys have been a very special part of our lives for a very long time,” Shawn Stockman said.
He added, “So when I say thank you, I’m not just talking about this evening. I’m saying thank you for the 33 years of our entire career. The Philippines embraced us from day one, and we realized our success would be nothing without all of you, beautiful people. This is showing right here; you sold out this whole building tonight. Because 33 years ago, we made a connection that has lasted this long. Hopefully, it will last for another 33 years.”
In 2018, the trio appeared in a show with Yeng Constantino, Kyla, Angeline Quinto and KZ Tandingan. The group returned for a solo concert on 12 December 2019 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.
Boyz II Men has been captivating audiences worldwide for over three decades, selling over 60 million albums, making them one of the most successful groups in music history. They also had a successful Las Vegas residency at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.
