A 28-year-old man from Pasay City was arrested Sunday afternoon at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after a violent altercation with aviation security personnel.

The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported that the incident occurred in the NAIA Terminal 3 arrival area. The suspect allegedly was illegally soliciting incoming passengers when a security officer and a colleague asked him to go to their office.

Police said the suspect refused and tried to flee. During the ensuing altercation, the suspect allegedly picked up a stone and struck the security officer in the right hand, injuring him.

PNP-AVSEGROUP officers responded and arrested the suspect. Both the injured security officer and the suspect were taken for medical evaluation.

The suspect is currently being held at NAIA Police Station 3 for further legal proceedings.

“This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of Aviation security personnel and PNP-AVSEGROUP to prevent unauthorized activities on airport property and guarantee the safety and order of all passengers and personnel,” PNP-AVSEGROUP director PBGen. Christopher M. Abecia said in a statement.
