In a surprising political development, Binmaley Vice Mayor Simplicio L. Rosario and his son, Barangay Nagpalangan Chairman Jonas Bautista Rosario, have both resigned from their respective positions, citing deep-seated governance concerns and irreconcilable differences with the current administration.
Vice Mayor Rosario submitted his resignation letter on 14 May, addressed to Governor Ramon V. Guico III, stating that he could no longer effectively fulfill his duties due to ongoing disagreements with the re-elected mayor and the Sangguniang Bayan. He lamented the hostile working environment and said staying in office would be “counterproductive” to the welfare of their constituents. His resignation takes effect on 16 May.
Meanwhile, his son, Jonas Bautista Rosario, resigned a day earlier as Barangay Captain of Nagpalangan. In his letter addressed to Mayor Pedro A. Merrera III, the younger Rosario said the decision was made "after a period of deep reflection" and was the most appropriate action for the unity and progress of their barangay.
The resignations of both father and son have sparked speculation of a deepening rift within the local political landscape.
As of press time, efforts to reach both Rosarios for further comment are still ongoing.
