Stronger together: PhilHealth, MMDA seal fresh deal on health outreach

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reaffirmed their long-standing commitment to public health education, marking six years of partnership with a renewed agreement.

PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado and MMDA Acting Chairperson Atty. Romando S. Artes led the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 8 May 2025 in Makati City, joined by key officials from both agencies.

The MOA signals the continued collaboration of the two agencies to promote greater public awareness and understanding of PhilHealth benefits, in line with the Universal Health Care law.

Under the agreement, the MMDA will help circulate accurate and timely information on PhilHealth campaigns through its digital and traditional media platforms. PhilHealth, in turn, will provide updated information, education and communication (IEC) materials, and conduct onsite registration during joint orientation activities.

“Through the signing of this memorandum of agreement we reinforce our joint commitment towards protecting the health and safety of the Filipinos in our shared dedication in delivering Universal Health Care to the Filipino people. Kasama po dito ang pagbibigay ng anunsyo nun pong information sa ating mga miyembro,” said Dr. Mercado.

“All of our facilities and assets will be used especially in the promotion of this beautiful project,” said Atty. Artes.

This initiative supports the full rollout of the Universal Health Care Act by ensuring that essential health information reaches more Filipinos, especially in highly populated areas where communication plays a vital role in public health.
