The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will strictly enforce a nationwide liquor ban starting Sunday, 11 May, until election day on Monday, 12 May.

The ban is in accordance with Comelec Resolution No. 11057, which prohibits the selling, offering, and consumption of alcoholic beverages during the specified period.

Under the resolution, any person, including owners and managers of hotels, resorts, restaurants, and similar establishments, is prohibited from selling, furnishing, offering, buying, serving, or consuming intoxicating liquor.

Violators face fines ranging from P1,000 to P6,000 or imprisonment of up to six years.
