A South Korean national kidnapped by armed assailants in the Philippines was released Monday after being held for three days, South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The individual's health was reported to be stable after being safely taken into custody by Philippine police on Monday morning.

"Our citizen is in good health, and further personal information about the victim cannot be disclosed," a Foreign Ministry official announced.

The incident occurred early Friday while the victim was traveling by car with two Chinese and two Philippine nationals to Nasugbu, near Manila, for a fishing trip.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the group was approached and then kidnapped by approximately 10 armed men.

The ministry official also assured the victim’s family and said they had worked with local law enforcement to assist with the ongoing investigation.

The identities and motive of the suspects remain unknown and are still under investigation by police.
