The two-day deployment of the 7.5 million official printed ballots for the National Capital Region (NCR) in the 12 May midterm elections began on Tuesday.

The ballots were sent to Caloocan, Marikina, Pasig, Valenzuela, Quezon City, Malabon, Navotas, and San Juan. Meanwhile, Muntinlupa, Pateros, Taguig, Manila, Makati, Pasay, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, and Parañaque will receive their ballots on Wednesday, 7 May.

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said the ballots would be delivered first to the Office of the Treasurer of each area before being distributed to the Electoral Board on Sunday, 11 May, or early Monday morning, 12 May.

"The ballots for other regions have already been distributed. They are already in the offices of treasurers of municipalities or cities," Garcia told reporters in an interview at the National Printing Office in Quezon City.

Garcia also invited political parties, candidates, and citizens' organizations to send representatives to monitor the shipment of ballots at the offices of local treasurers.

Personnel from the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines will monitor and accompany the shipment.

The Comelec began distributing official ballots to other regions on 22 April, and the final testing and sealing are set to conclude on Wednesday.

Around 68 million Filipinos are expected to cast their votes on Monday.
