CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Department of Agriculture (DA) Central Luzon has installed a new Farmer Regional Executive Director (FRED) this Farmer and Fisherfolk Month at the Government Center, Barangay Maimpis on 2 May.

Regional Executive Director (RED) Dr. Eduardo L. Lapuz, Jr. led the turnover ceremony of the FRED to Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council (RAFC) Chairperson Onesimo Romano in a simple ceremony held at the DA Regional Field Office 3 Training Hall.

The holding of the turnover of the RAFC Chairperson as the Farmer Director is held every month of May during the FFM celebration. The event recognizes the important role of the farmers and fisherfolk in the agricultural sector of the country.

The RAFCs are groups that provide opinions and consultations that embody the private sector, particularly the farmers, fisherfolk, agricultural businessmen, and other rural stakeholders, in the region.

They are a part of a wider network called the Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs) that act within the regional stage, such as the RAFC, provincial, such as the PAFC, and Independent Components or Highly Urbanized Cities, and City/Municipal.

The FRED will take on the roles and responsibilities of the regional executive director during the month of May, including participating in discussions regarding policies and the implementation of programs.
