Starting on Wednesday, commuters can enjoy free train rides until Saturday as a special gesture to honor the hardworking men and women of the country.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made the announcement in a video message, offering this as part of the Labor Day celebration.
In his message, Marcos said the free rides will be available throughout the operating hours of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Lines 1 and 2, and the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3.
“I want to let all our commuters know that I have ordered free rides on MRT 3, LRT 1 and 2 as a small tribute to our workers during Labor Day,” he said.
The President emphasized that the initiative is a way to recognize the significant contributions of Filipino workers, who help not only the economy but also uplift society as a whole.
Labor Day is on Thursday, 1 May.
