A 17-year-old Filipino girl died after being struck by a train in Monza, Italy on Saturday.
According to a Rome-based news outlet, the teenager succumbed to her injuries at the San Gerardo Hospital after she was struck at the Greco-Pirelli station in Milan by the Trenord regional train 25081 traveling from Chiasso to the Porta Garibaldi station.
“The young girl was crossing the tracks on a scooter with her parents when the train struck her. The incident occurred at 10:15 p.m.,” the report stated.
On Sunday, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan, in a statement, expressed its condolences and called on the Filipino community to offer prayers for their fellow Filipino.
The tragedy comes a week after another Filipino, 61-year-old domestic worker Angelito Manansala from Batangas, was found dead on 20 April.
Authorities said Manansala was discovered in his employer’s apartment along Via Randaccio. It appeared he may have been strangled by a 28-year-old Gambian man who broke into the home.
A memorial Mass for Manansala was offered by the consulate general on 27 April.
