CAMP LAPULAPU, Cebu City — In a bid to boost troop morale and ensure effective command and control, Lieutenant General Fernando M. Reyeg, commander of the Visayas Command, recently visited several military units in Eastern Visayas.
His tour took him to key locations, including the headquarters of the 803rd Infantry Brigade in Catarman, Northern Samar; the 87th Infantry Battalion in San Jose De Buan, Samar; and the 8th Infantry Division Headquarters in Catbalogan City, Samar.
The main goal of his visit was to assess the ongoing security and stability operations in the region, especially with the upcoming 2025 midterm national and local elections. He also took the opportunity to check on the readiness of the troops who will be supporting the election process.
During his visit, Lt. Gen. Reyeg took the time to speak directly with the troops, commending them for their outstanding work.
“We’ve made significant progress in our campaign here in Eastern Visayas,” he said. “Let’s keep up the momentum and continue to push forward.”
A total of 2,848 personnel have been placed on alert, ready to assist Comelec and PNP in maintaining a fair and orderly election.
He also highlighted the critical role of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in assisting the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the elections.
“Our mission is clear: we must ensure that our people can vote freely, without fear or intimidation,” Reyeg emphasized. “Let’s continue to uphold the highest standards of service and do everything we can to guarantee the success of this democratic process.”
