It was a night filled with music, pride, and gratitude as the Kalayaan Grounds of Malacañang Palace came alive tonight with the "Konsyerto sa Palasyo," a special tribute to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) organized by the Office of the President and Radio Television Malacañang in collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers, highlighted the global contributions and sacrifices of OFWs.
The evening began with a bang as all participating artists encircled together for a vibrant opening piece making up popular anthems "Manila," "Bebot," and "Sikat ang Pinoy." The performance immediately set the tone for a night of Filipino excellence and resilience.
Following the lively opening, the audience was impressed by a distinctive visual presentation named "Sakripisyo ng OFW," which commemorated the challenges and sacrifices made by Filipino workers abroad.
Chito Ricafrente, Rap Cañedo, and Marielle Montellano performed an emotional Long Distance Medley, which included classic hits such as "Beyond the Sea," "So Far Away," "Right Here Waiting," "Get Here," and "Home."
Chito Ricafrente performed a fiery rendition of "Kahit Kailan," followed by Rap Cañedo and Winchester Lopez's passionate performance of "Mapa," and PrimeDance Manila's beautiful storytelling.
Adding to the night's impressive roster, Reuben Laurente performed a stellar version of "Ang Galing Mo, Bayaning Pilipino" and "Pag-uwi," a fitting tribute to the bravery of Filipino workers abroad.
The event concluded with all of the performers performing a touching rendition of "Babalik Ka Rin," reminding everyone of the enduring Filipino sense of homecoming and love for the motherland.
The Konsyerto sa Palasyo is an initiative of the Office of the President, supported by Radio Television Malacañang.
It aims to highlight and elevate Filipino singers, dancers, and performing artists, offering them a national platform to showcase their talents.
More than just a night of entertainment, the event recognizes the various sectors of society — from soldiers and teachers to sports, healthcare workers, and OFWs — whose unwavering dedication and passion provide pride and respect to the Philippines.
