In a bid to revolutionize the use of Artificial Intelligence and digitization in the country, the Manuel Pangilinan-led PLDT Group has inaugurated the first VITRO hyperscale data center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event was graced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Trade Secretary Cristina Roque on Wednesday.
Developed by VITRO Inc., the data infrastructure arm of the PLDT Group and a subsidiary of ePLDT, the 50-megawatt data center is designed to address the growing demands of enterprises, hyperscalers, and AI platforms.
The data center includes a GPU-as-a-Service solution optimized specifically for high-performance workloads.
President Marcos, Secretary Roque, and other key officials took part in an exclusive tour of the facility, gaining firsthand insight into its cutting-edge AI capabilities and hyperscale design.
Last August 2024, VITRO Inc. announced a significant enhancement to the network infrastructure of the VITRO Sta. Rosa data center by connecting the facility to the larger VITRO data center network.
Enabled by Ciena, a global leader in networking systems, services, and software, the Sta. Rosa site will be directly linked to major VITRO sites in Makati, Parañaque, and Pasig via the VITRO Data Center Interconnect (DCI).
Incorporating Ciena’s Waveserver Ai and 6500 coherent optical technology, the facility delivers the scalability and efficiencies required to meet the demands of a hyperconnected world.
The VITRO Sta. Rosa facility is a purpose-built, 50-megawatt hyperscale data center located in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. It is designed to be Rated-3 certified and Rated-4 ready.
Utilizing the latest innovations in cooling and power redundancy, the data center is equipped with at least three fiber routes, ensuring network diversity, resilience, and carrier neutrality.
