Biazon scores fake video endorsing rival House bet

Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon is calling out the spread of a manipulated video falsely showing him endorsing another candidate for congressman — something he says is completely untrue.

In a Facebook post, Biazon warned the public not to fall for the deception.

“Heads up, everyone! Don’t be fooled. This altered video is a complete lie,” he wrote.

The original clip, recorded during a campaign event, actually featured Biazon endorsing Allen Fresnedi Ampaya, the current barangay captain of Poblacion, as his chosen candidate for vice mayor in the upcoming 12 May elections.

But someone tampered with the footage, editing it to make it appear as if Biazon was throwing his support behind a different candidate running for congressman in Muntinlupa’s lone district.

To set the record straight: Biazon is backing his partymate, incumbent Rep. Jaime Fresnedi, in his reelection bid for Congress.

The mayor condemned the spread of “false, misleading, and digitally altered material,” saying it was not only unauthorized but intended to smear his name. What’s worse, he noted, the video was posted on Good Friday — a day when campaigning is strictly prohibited under Commission on Elections (Comelec) rules.

Biazon’s team is now exploring legal action for possible violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act (RA 10175), the Omnibus Election Code (Batas Pambansa Blg. 881), and Comelec Resolution No. 11064, which governs the use of social media, AI, and digital content in political campaigns.
