A former member of the CPP-NPA-NDF (ANAKPAWIS) voluntarily surrendered to authorities on 19 April 2025 in Lamao, Limay, Bataan.
The 50-year-old, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, turned himself in to personnel of the 2nd Mobile Force Company of the Bataan Police Provincial Office, in coordination with other government units.
Police said the surrender marked a significant step toward peace and reconciliation in the province. The former rebel handed over an improvised 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition, a gesture that authorities viewed as a clear renunciation of armed struggle.
Col. Marites A. Salvadora, Bataan police director, commended the act and stated: “This act is a courageous step toward a better future, not only for himself but for his family and community. We are committed to assisting former rebels in reintegrating into mainstream society and providing them with the support they need to rebuild their lives.”
Authorities have assured the surrenderee of safety and access to government assistance, including livelihood support and skills training.
The Bataan police urged remaining members of insurgent groups to abandon armed conflict and avail of government reintegration programs.
