A well-loved family restaurant in Olongapo City was engulfed in flames on Saturday as a fire broke out along the busy stretch of Magsaysay Drive, known as the city’s entertainment district.

According to Vice Mayor Jong Cortez, the Bureau of Fire Protection received an emergency call at 11:38 a.m. reporting a fire above Sam’s Pizza, a long-established local dining spot.

Quick to respond, firefighting and emergency units from multiple agencies rushed to the scene, including Olongapo Fire and Rescue DRRMO, SBMA Fire Department, Subic SPOSO, barangay rescue teams, the Philippine Red Cross, volunteer radio groups, the Office of Traffic Management and Public Safety, and the Olongapo City Police Office.

Initial investigations revealed that the fire started on the second floor of the building, though the exact cause has yet to be determined.

“We’ve already got the fire under control,” said SBMA Fire Chief Ranny Magno. “Right now, we’re conducting overhauling operations to deal with deep-seated embers and prevent any possible flare-ups.”

No injuries have been reported. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the origin of the blaze and assess the full extent of the damage.

Sam’s Pizza has been a staple in the community for decades, known for its local flavor and nostalgic charm. The loss has struck a chord with many residents who frequented the establishment with family and friends.
