Tuba, Benguet — Barangay Tadiangan officials, in coordination with the Tuba Municipal Police Station, have announced the temporary closure of the Kagaling River at Sitio Hydro #2 to non-residents following a drowning incident.
The decision came after a man was retrieved from the Hydro 4 River in Nangalisan, Tuba, Benguet, on the afternoon of 17 April 2025. He was rushed to a medical facility in Baguio City but was declared dead on arrival. The reported cause of death was severe asphyxia secondary to drowning.
Authorities announced the river closure on 18 April, which will remain in effect until Sunday afternoon. Barangay officials said the measure aims to prevent any further untoward incidents.
The Tuba Police urged the public to exercise extreme caution when visiting rivers, hydro areas, and other bodies of water.
“Avoid swimming in unfamiliar or unsupervised locations, especially where strong currents or sudden depth changes may occur. Children should be closely supervised, and all safety signs and local advisories must be strictly observed,” the advisory stated.
