MRT Line 3 undergoing rail grinding

To ensure safer and more efficient operations for commuters, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT3) has undergone its maintenance schedule over the Holy Week.

MRT3 maintenance work focused on rail grinding, a process involving the smoothing and repairi ng the tracks to eliminate deformations and corrosion caused by daily friction and use.

It is an essential step in maintaining the smooth and safe movement of trains and minimizing service disruptions, MRT3 engineers said.

The rail grinding were done along its mainline until Saturday, the third day of its maintenance .

On the other hand, the Light Rail Transit Authority reported ongoing annual maintenance for LRT-1 and LRT-2 lines.

LRTA administrator Hernando Cabrera inspected the LRT-1 stations from EDSA to Baclaran on Saturday morning, including the line connecting to the Pasay Depot, to oversee the efforts of the Light Rail Manila Corporation.

Preventive maintenance, inspections, and general cleaning of facilities and equipment were also conducted along the LRT-2 system.

Authorities emphasized that these annual maintenance activities are vital to ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of Metro Manila’s railway systems.
