CAMP PFC CIRILO S TOLENTINO, BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Members of the Orion police confiscated illegally cut logs Wednesday with an estimated volume of 3,806.25 board feet with assessed total value of P266,437.50.
Col. Marites A. Salvadora, Bataan police director, personally ascended to the area in Upper Bilolo, Orion town on Wednesday together with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) CENRO Pilar, to conduct an anti-illegal logging operation at mountainous area of Upper Bilolo, Orion, Bataan.
The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the confiscation of one Isuzu Elf loaded with illegally cut timber (Red Lauan).
Col. Salvadora said the suspect and all confiscated evidence are now under the custody of Orion MPS for proper disposition and will eventually be turnover to the office of DENR.
A complaint for violation of P.D. 705 (Illegal Logging) is being prepared against the suspect.
The woman police director highlighted that, “As part of our intensified campaign against environmental crimes, Bataan PNP has adopted modern technology — specifically the use of drones. This enables the PNP to conduct aerial surveillance and real-time monitoring of suspected illegal logging sites, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas of Bataan. This advanced technology significantly improves our situational awareness, allows for the swift verification of reports, and enhances the effectiveness and precision of our law enforcement operations.”
