(December 17, 2024) On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, motorcycle taxis were seen plying Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order (SCO) to two of the three ride-hailing companies operating in the national capital for allegedly exceeding the government's limit on the number of motorcycle taxi riders. LTFRB: Fare discounts valid this Holy Week

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reminded the public that students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are entitled to a 20 percent discount on fares in all forms of public transportation — even during Holy Week.

In a public advisory, the LTFRB cited Republic Act No. 11314 for student discounts and Republic Act No. 10754 for discounts granted to senior citizens and PWDs.

"Ngayong Semana Santa 2025, ipinapaalala ng Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) na ang mga estudyante, senior citizens, at persons with disability (PWDs) ay may 20% diskwento sa pamasahe sa lahat ng mga pampublikong transportasyon (This Holy Week 2025, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reminds the public that students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) are entitled to a 20% fare discount on all public transportation.)," the agency said in a Facebook post.

The LTFRB emphasized that student discounts remain valid even during holidays, semestral breaks, and weekends.

“Ayon sa LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2025-010, ang diskwento ay sagot ng operator at hindi ng drayber (According to LTFRB Memorandum Circular 2025-010, the fare discount is the responsibility of the operator, not the driver),” the post read.

Passengers are advised to present valid identification — a school ID for students, a senior citizen ID, or a PWD ID or any government-issued ID for PWDs — to avail of the discount.
