Why Daniel Padilla enjoys doing action scenes

‘This genre is new to me, and I enjoy it. I don’t want to be labeled as an action star. I just like this genre because I learn so many things for myself’

Alex Brosas

For the first time, Daniel Padilla has evolved into an action star of sort in Incognito.

Now in its mid-season, Padilla relished the action component of the series.

“This genre is new to me, and I enjoy it. I don’t want to be labeled as an action star. I just like this genre because I learn so many things for myself. I get to test myself if I really can. I enjoy the action; it’s very physical,” he said in Filipino during the recent mediation for Incognito.

How was he able to tide over the challenge of doing slambang action when all he did in the past were rom-com series for ABS-CBN?

Daniel Padilla.

“Maybe it’s because of the help of our director, my co-actors and my relatives,” he said.

Padilla shared that they faced an extremely opposite climate in Itogon, Benguet and Japan, the former being hot and the latter being fiercely cold.

Incidentally, in the recent episode of Pilipinas Got Talent, judge Freddie M. Garcia noticed a contestant’s seeming physical likeness to Padilla.

“Is Daniel Padilla your relative?” Garcia asked in Filipino.

“Hair! Same hair. Incognito,” Kathryn Bernardo said.

Kim Chiu grateful to Pinoy fans in Dubai

It’s Showtime host Kim Chiu was overwhelmed by the support she and her My Love Will Make You Disappear leading man Paulo Avelino got when they were in Dubai.

“Maraming-maraming salamat sa lahat ng nandito. Sana nag-enjoy kayo sa ating munting meet and greet. Sana mas marami pa ang pagkikita natin dito sa susunod na pagdalaw namin dito sa Dubai. Thank you so much for taking time to watch our movie (Thank to all who are here. Hope you enjoyed our little meet and greet. Hope we have more chances to see you here in Dubai),» Chiu said after the block screening.

“Thank you for the overwhelming support. Ang saya. Since 2013 na pumupunta ako sa Dubai hanggang ngayon, ang saya (It’s fun. Since 2013 when I was going to Dubai until now, it’s fun),” Avelino said.

“That’s a wrap for our Middle East special screening of My Love Will Make You Disappear! Thank you to all our Kapamilya who supported the Dubai Mall and Dubai Marina Mall shows!” Chiu posted on her Facebook account.

The movie’s success is already a pre-birthday gift for Chiu, who will be celebrating her birthday this month.

In a recent video, Chiu was greeted by ABS-CBN executives Cory Vidanes and Lauren Dyogi with a birthday cake.  Chiu will start her next teleserye with Dreamscape, which gave her two hit series Linlang and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.

Maymay Entrata not closing doors on love life

After more than a year and a half in a long-distance relationship, Maymay Entrata seems to have accepted her fate in love.

“Sa ngayon po, wala po. Pero hindi ko naman masasabing close na ‹yung doors ko. God willing, kung meron pong dadating why not. Wala namang right timing. Kung darating, darating (Now, there’s none. But I’m not saying that my doors are closed. God willing, if there’s someone coming, why not. There’s no right timing. If it comes, it comes),” she said when queried about her love life.

Entrata said there was no third party involved in their separation.

“Meron din namang successful sa LDR (long distance relationship). Hindi lang naman ‘yun ‘yung dahilan. It’s more like kung compatible kayong dalawa (There are those successful in LDR. It’s not the only reason. It’s more like if you’re compatible),” she said.

Of the many singing assignments, Entrata is most challenged when she was tasked to sing the Filipino version of “Waiting on a Wish (Nasaan ang Hiling)” for the Disney production of Snow White.

“Hindi ako makapaniwala. Hindi nag-sink in sa akin. Tapos Snow White pa. ‘Yung pagkanta sa Disney, iba eh. Medyo theatrical ‘yung way niya. First time ko ng ganoong genre. Isang araw lang ‹yung preparation (I can’t believe it. It didn’t sink in with me. Then it’s Snow White. Disney, it’s different, it’s kinda theatrical way. It’s my first time in that genre.  The preparation is one day only),” she said.
