AFP top brass visits ambush wounded soldier

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Two top military commanders visited the wounded and fallen soldiers of the 18th Infantry Battalion (18th IB) after unidentified lawless elements in Barangay Dugaa, Tuburan, Basilan province, treacherously ambushed them.

Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, together with Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, the Commander of the Western Mindanao Command, visited the wounded and fallen soldiers of the 18th Infantry Battalion on Sunday.

Both top military leaders visited Corporal Richie S. Flores, who is now confined at the West Metro Medical Center, and at St. Peter Funeral Homes where the remains of Sgt. Reymark Bation and Cpl. Jordan Daquipel lies in state.

The three soldiers were all members of the 18th IB located in Barangay Campo Uno in Lamitan City, Basilan province.

During the visit, Galido awarded Cpl. Flores with a Wounded Personnel Medal, recognizing his courage and heroism in the line of duty.
