University of Perpetual Help System Dalta guns for its first ever title when it clashes with La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) in Game 2 of their Season 100 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) juniors basketball best-of-three finals series today at the Filoil EcoOil Arena.
Game time is at 2:30 p.m. with the Junior Altas looking to capture its maiden title after bowing to Letran College in Season 99 last year.
Should Perpetual pull off the championship run, it’s going to be the school’s first-ever basketball crown of any kind since joining the country’s oldest collegiate league in 1984.
The Junior Altas showcased their championship pedigree after a heart-stopping 100-96 win over the Greenies to take Game 1 in this best-of-three title series.
NCAA Season 100 Most Valuable Player frontrunner Lebron Jhames Daep showed the way for Perpetual after flirting for a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds in Game 1 while Jan Roluna, who had 20 points, five rebounds and three steals.
Aside from Daep and Roluna, also tasked to carry the load for the Junior Altas are team captain JD Pagulayan, Icee Callangan, Jericho Cristina and Kelsey Baldoria, who are determined to win a title before graduating this June.
On the other hand, LSGH will be playing without guard Arle Podador after getting a disqualifying foul after hitting Aries Borja to the stomach in the middle of the match.
Still, the Greenies are expected to be tough opponents as Guillian Quines will be a thorn on the Junior Altas’ side after scoring 29 points along with two rebounds, three assists, and four steals in Game 1.
Prior to the title showdown, Letran and San Beda University will clash for the bronze medal in the 12 p.m. appetizer.
The Squires, who were dethroned by LSGH in the Final Four, will try to end its season on a positive note as it faces the Red Cubs for a shot at the podium.
