The United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) is celebrating its 50th national convention with CONEX 2025, the country’s leading platform for innovation and collaboration in the construction industry. Happening from 9 to 12 April 2025 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City, this milestone event carries the theme “Borderless,” reflecting a shared vision of sustainability, innovation and global partnership in shaping the future of the built environment. Among this year’s featured exhibitors is Siam Cement Group (SCG), Thailand’s number one home solutions provider, showcasing a wide range of eco-friendly, durable and forward-thinking building products.

SCG’s presence at CONEX 2025 highlights its long-standing commitment to sustainable construction and environmental responsibility. As a pioneer in green building practices across Southeast Asia, SCG continues to drive innovation through product development, manufacturing excellence and a strong emphasis on reducing environmental impact.

The company’s self-developed ‘SCG Green Choice’ eco-labeling system helps ensure that all of its certified products meet strict sustainability standards. This label provides consumers and industry professionals with clear, accessible information on a product’s environmental benefits and performance attributes, reinforcing SCG’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

Showcasing sustainable product solutions at CONEX 2025

SCG’s booth at CONEX 2025 features a wide range of innovative and sustainable building products, tailored to meet the evolving needs of architects, builders, and homeowners.

One of the standout offerings is SmartWood, an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wood. SmartWood is highly durable and completely asbestos-free, making it a safe and sustainable solution for ceilings, walls, and flooring. It not only supports green building initiatives but also adds a stylish and natural touch to interior and exterior spaces.

Also on display is the SmartBoard ULTRA, a revolutionary fiber cement board designed to overcome common issues such as edge cracking. Combining strength and flexibility, SmartBoard ULTRA performs exceptionally well in high-moisture environments, making it a reliable choice for long-term structural applications.

Another innovation is the C-Channel Plus, a fiber cement-based alternative to steel beams. Weighing five to six times less than traditional steel, this lightweight yet strong material allows for easier handling, faster installation, and reduced overall construction costs — all while maintaining structural integrity.

For those seeking energy efficiency, SmartBlock presents a compelling solution. This lightweight material features a cellular structure filled with air pockets that enhance insulation, helping to regulate indoor temperatures, reduce heat transfer, and lower energy consumption in both warm and cool climates.

To further improve home energy performance, SCG offers Staycool, a ceiling insulation product developed with HydroProtec technology. This innovation helps repel water and moisture, prolonging the insulation’s effectiveness and contributing to a cooler, more energy-efficient living environment.

SCG also introduces Shinkolite, a premium acrylic roofing solution developed by SCG Chemicals. Known for its aesthetic appeal and durability, Shinkolite allows ample natural light to enter indoor spaces while providing strong resistance against weather elements — making it ideal for contemporary residential and commercial projects.

Lastly, SCG highlights its range of facade systems under its subsidiaries, SCG D’COR and DECAAR. These solutions are designed to elevate the exterior appearance of buildings while offering practical benefits such as weather resistance and ease of installation. To ensure optimal results, SCG also provides technical support from its in-house team, assisting customers from the design phase through to implementation.

Commitment to a greener future

SCG’s dedication to sustainability goes beyond just making great products. The company uses recycled plastic in its manufacturing and constantly improves its processes to cut down on pollution and waste. This shows SCG’s strong commitment to being a responsible business that cares about the environment.

As a leader in green development, SCG follows the ESG 4 Plus model — which focuses on caring for the environment, supporting communities, practicing good governance, and continuing to grow its business. The company also works with others and openly shares its progress so everyone — from customers to investors — knows they can trust SCG. Their main goal is to help create a better, more livable world for future generations.

Because of its strong commitment to sustainability, SCG has earned recognition from respected organizations around the world. It placed in the Top 1 percent in the construction materials industry according to S&P Global, and was ranked no. one in its category by Morningstar Sustainalytics for managing environmental and social risks.

SCG also received an AA ESG rating from MSCI, a top investment research firm, recognizing it as a leader in the construction materials sector. On top of that, SCG has been ranked among the top three companies globally in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) for 14 years in a row — holding the no. one spot for several of those years.
