NTC kicks off Holy Week assistance ops

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) on Friday activated its annual nationwide public assistance operations for Holy Week 2025.

In a memorandum dated 7 April 2025, the NTC directed all regional directors to coordinate with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (NDRRMCs), Civic Action Groups (CAGs) and Amateur Radio Groups (ARGs) to provide public assistance within their jurisdictions.

The agency instructed its regional offices to determine how the commission can best assist, including issuing temporary permits and licenses to support the safety of travelers during the religious holiday.

It also enlisted the assistance of radio, television, and cable TV stations to ensure the timely dissemination of relevant information.

Regional directors are required to submit preparatory reports listing participating CAGs and ARGs, covered areas and routes, operating frequencies, and contact details for the duration of the operations to the Office of the Commissioner.

Ongoing and post-operation reports are also mandated.

The annual initiative by the NTC and its regional offices aims to ensure the safe travels of Filipino families during their traditional Holy Week pilgrimages to the provinces.
